Jowar Flakes Poha

Organic Wisdom Jowar Flakes are made from wholesome sorghum, an ancient millet naturally rich in dietary fibre and a good source of plant protein. They are gluten-free, light on the stomach, and provide sustained energy, making them a healthy alternative to regular poha for a nutritious breakfast or evening snack.

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

Cooking Time: 10 Minutes

Serves: 2–3

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups Organic Wisdom Jowar Flakes

  • 1 tbsp cold-pressed oil

  • ½ tsp mustard seeds

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds

  • 8–10 curry leaves

  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • ¼ cup green peas (optional)

  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp roasted peanuts

  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander

  • Fresh grated coconut for garnish (optional)

PREPARATION

  1. Rinse the Jowar Flakes quickly under running water and let them rest for 3–5 minutes until soft. Do not soak for too long.

  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Allow them to crackle.

  3. Add curry leaves, green chillies and chopped onions. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.

  4. Add green peas and cook for 2–3 minutes.

  5. Mix in turmeric powder and salt.

  6. Add the softened Jowar Flakes and gently toss until all the ingredients are well combined.

  7. Stir in roasted peanuts and sugar (if using), then cook for another 2–3 minutes on low heat.

  8. Turn off the heat and finish with lemon juice, chopped coriander and grated coconut.

  9. Serve hot with tea or enjoy a wholesome breakfast.

Pro Tip

For extra nutrition, add finely chopped vegetables like carrots, capsicum or beans. Top with roasted seeds such as flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds for added crunch, fibre and plant-based protein.
